OUR HISTORY

1938

Our roots date back to 1938, with our company established as “Furniture Productions” by Dr Arnold Moore. World War II breaks out in 1939 and Furniture Productions joins the war effort by working for the Ministry of Defense, making equipment including ammunition boxes.

1948

The National Health Service is formed in England, Scotland and Wales in July 1948. World War II finally ceases in September 1945. In 1949 Furniture Productions recognises the potential merits of FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Association) and immediately gets involved influencing standards to improve quality and safety in the industry.

1988

Furniture Productions become key influencers of the Furniture and Fire Safety Regulations of 1988 and the development of fire-retardant foams for furniture, which is seen as a major change in fire safety. To mark these achievements, FURPRO changes its name change to Knightsbridge Furniture Productions Ltd.

2015

2015 marks a change in our company with the recumbent owners of 77 years, retiring to make way for a new leadership team with fresh ideas to drive us forward.

2026

Seeing synergy in their businesses, Knightsbridge is acquired by Pineapple, a furniture manufacturer specialising in mental health and challenging environments. The acquisition makes Knightsbridge’s popular healthcare ranges available to customers across the world.
